The Clumsy Baker is a small home bakery in Durban. Our baker has been baking for more than 15 years, including baking for cafés in Botswana.
Over those years came a lot of experimenting and a lot of learning, and that has never stopped. We are always trying new things, which is where the Clumsy Kitchen comes from.
What has not changed is how we bake: in small batches, by hand, and only once you have ordered, so every box is fresh. The name? Every batch is shaped by hand, so no two bakes are ever quite the same. Perfectly imperfect.

How do I order?
Build your order on our order page and send it to us on WhatsApp, or simply message 083 467 4564. We confirm every order and send you an invoice.
How much notice do you need?
Two days. Everything is baked fresh to order, so we need two days’ notice for every order.
Where do I collect?
Orders are collected in Overport, Durban. We send you the exact address and a map pin when we confirm your order.
How do I pay?
You pay on collection, by EFT, card or cash.
Are your bakes halal?
Yes. Everything we bake is halal.
How big are the cookies?
Our New York style cookies are about 10cm edge to edge: thick, soft-centred and generous.
Is there a minimum order?
No. Order a single box or several.
When is the Saturday Bun Box?
It is a limited drop collected on Saturdays: two each of our Cardamom, Cinnamon and Vanilla Custard buns for R210.
Do any products contain nuts?
Our Choc Chip Walnut cookies contain walnuts, and all our bakes are made in a kitchen that handles nuts, wheat, dairy and eggs. Please tell us about any allergies when you order.
